The crash took place just before 5:15 p.m. at Walnut and Cedar streets in [North Berkeley](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/north-berkeley/). A Scanner reader passing through the area said the intersection had been blocked off by a half-dozen police cars, with officers measuring in the street. Police said the woman had been in the crosswalk on the west side of the intersection when the northbound driver, a man in his 30s, struck her while turning left onto Cedar from Walnut. The 95-year-old woman initially lost consciousness but came to after the crash, allowing first responders to speak with her, according to radio dispatches. [Berkeley Fire](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/berkeley-fire-department/) rushed her to Highland Hospital "Code 3" for treatment.
