A [magnitude 2.9 earthquake](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc75276931/executive?ref=berkeleyscanner.com) rattled Berkeley on Monday afternoon, following eight quakes in San Ramon that began at 2:30 a.m.

"Felt it on Northside. My wall rattled," wrote [one Berkeley resident on Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/berkeleyca/comments/1phr85n/earthquake/?ref=berkeleyscanner.com).

"Southside here. Felt like a truck ran into my house," wrote another. "Twice."

A third community member described "three distinct shudders here."

The Oakland quake's epicenter was near Park Boulevard and the Warren Freeway.

It was recorded at 2:55 p.m. with a depth of 2.9 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

About 100 Berkeley residents [had sent in "did you feel it" reports](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc75276931/dyfi/responses?ref=berkeleyscanner.com) to the USGS as of publication time.

The Oakland quake followed eight quakes in San Ramon (magnitude 2.5 or higher) that began Monday just after 2:30 a.m.
