The crash happened just before 10:25 a.m. at University and Curtis Street in [West Berkeley](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/west-berkeley/), [Berkeley police](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/berkeley-police-department/) said in response to a Scanner inquiry. Authorities said the woman, who was in her mid-60s, was conscious but struggling to speak at the scene. The woman was on westbound University in the crosswalk on the west side of Curtis Street as they loaded her into an ambulance on the north side of the street, one passer-by said. He described a large police presence, with traffic diverted off of University Avenue at Acton Street. Police did block part of the roadway during the response, BPD said.
