The decision follows a [recent judicial ruling](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/2025/06/26/community/berkeley-can-close-ohlone-park-homeless-encampment-new-court-ruling/) that gave the city the green light to enforce rules that prohibit lodging at the [North Berkeley](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/north-berkeley/) park. On Monday, the city posted notices around the park, including on tents, advising campers of the plans. "You are hereby ordered to vacate the park and remove all personal belongings by or before the Compliance Deadline of July 3," the notice reads. "Any person found to be encamped in the park after the Compliance Deadline … may be subject to citations and/or arrest." The city emphasized that it hopes to avoid criminal penalties and that campers voluntarily comply with the advisory.
