The teenager was walking home from the gym on San Pablo Avenue when two other teenagers — both strangers — confronted him and stabbed him, according to emergency dispatches. The assailants, who may have worn masks and fled on scooters, were described as Black, 15 or 16 years old, 5 foot 3 and 5 foot 5, with heavy builds. The victim told police he had been stabbed near the shoulder and could not feel his hand, according to emergency dispatches. Police responded quickly and applied a tourniquet to the wound. The [Berkeley Fire Department](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/berkeley-fire-department/) rushed the teenager to Highland Hospital, the area trauma center, for treatment. Police flooded the area, working to find surveillance footage and search for the assailants. According to initial reports, the incident was classified as an assault with a deadly weapon and did not involve robbery or other crimes. As of Thursday, the investigation was ongoing.
