The store reported six or more people who pulled up to the store in two cars and then ran out with $25,000 in stolen merchandise around 3:15 p.m. The drivers fled westbound on Gilman Street toward the freeway and were able to get away, authorities said. The case remains under investigation. Toward the end of 2024, thieves repeatedly hammered the Berkeley North Face Outlet, taking items valued at about $46,000 from mid-November to mid-December. Overall, however, commercial burglaries fell about 30% in Berkeley last year compared to [2023's spike](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/2024/03/19/policing/berkeley-crime-report-2023-city-council/). There were about 400 commercial burglaries in Berkeley in 2024 compared to about 570 over the same period last year, according to [preliminary BPD data](https://bpd-transparency-initiative-berkeleypd.hub.arcgis.com/pages/crimes?ref=berkeleyscanner.com#cknad003o).
