One of the first serious collisions we covered at TBS involved a cyclist who was hit by a driver on San Pablo Avenue in November 2022. The cyclist died much later and we wanted to tell his story. But details were elusive. For a long time, we couldn't even find his name. It took a lot of digging, but we finally got some answers. We published our exclusive story this morning on the anniversary of his death. A local resident caught part of the fire on video. Here's what we know so far. We asked police first thing. They promised answers by tomorrow. Stay tuned. ### Around the web Today's big stories in East Bay public safety were the mass shooting at Lake Merritt, which left 15 people wounded amid a Juneteenth celebration, and the FBI raid of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao's house. Both stories are outside our coverage area but still of high interest. There's substantial coverage online about both subjects.
