Reports are preliminary, but police began getting reports of people who may have been shooting at each other from two vehicles at about 6:20 p.m. in the area of 62nd and Adeline streets. Authorities said over the radio that the shooting may have taken place on the Oakland side of the border. Police were checking with local hospitals to see if anyone had come in with a gunshot wound. As of about 6:45 p.m., Berkeley police were turning over the scene to the Oakland Police Department.
