# Police investigate sexual battery in UC Berkeley student housing

The University of California Police Department is investigating a sexual battery report inside a UC Berkeley residence hall Friday.

Details remain scant.

UCPD said only that a resident of a UC residence hall went into someone else's room and "committed sexual battery against multiple room occupants."

The incident happened Friday at about 3:40 a.m., UCPD said in a prepared statement.

UCPD did not share any other information about the incident or the location where it happened, or whether any arrests had been made, citing the nature of the incident as the reason for the lack of detail.

UCPD has handled six other sex crime reports in the past six months, according to CrimeMapping.com.

(That's the only period in which UCPD crime reports are readily available.)

The Berkeley Police Department has handled 19 other sex crime reports, including 13 felony sex crimes, around campus in the same period, according to BPD data.
