[Berkeley police](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/berkeley-police-department/) chased the culprits into North Oakland, where three people were detained and a block search recently ended, BPD said in response to a Scanner inquiry. The incident began just after 1:45 p.m. with a robbery via gun near Bancroft Way and Shattuck Avenue, a block from the UC Berkeley campus. Officers arrived quickly but the suspects were already gone, Berkeley police said. Officers set up a perimeter near Pearl Street and Fairmount Avenue, not far from the Harrison Street exit of I-580, and initially detained two people. A third suspect was located and detained with the help of a drone and K-9 from another law enforcement agency just before publication time. BPD said no other suspects are outstanding. A community member who stopped in the area of the police search told The Scanner that officers found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine in the backseat of the crashed vehicle. The investigation remains active, BPD said.
