# Berkeley bank robber escapes on BART

Berkeley police investigated a bank robbery on Shattuck Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, authorities report. 

The man took cash at about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday after making threats to a Chase bank teller at 2150 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley police said in response to a Scanner inquiry. 

The man was described as Black, 30-40 years old and 6 feet tall. He also reportedly had gold teeth, BPD confirmed shortly after publication.

[Berkeley police](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/berkeley-police-department/) said he fled Chase on foot and ran into the downtown Berkeley BART station, which is located right outside the bank.

Due to a delay in reporting, BPD said, the man was able to escape on a BART train.
